Almost 40 girls, aged between 8 and 14 years old, took part in the event, which included coaching, skill drills and a mini World Cup tournament, organised by F.A. Qualified coaches from the two local FA Charter Standard Clubs: Buxton Juniors FC and New Mills Juniors FC.

BBC television's Newsround team, who are featuring the Women's World Cup in China, were also at the tournament.

The High Peak players had an opportunity to chat with Karen and she shared her knowledge in a 15-minute question and answer session. All the participants received a certificate and a goody bag. They also signed an England flag, which is travelling to China with Karen and the team.

Councillor Andrew Bingham, High Peak Borough Council's Executive Member for Social and Community Development, who was also at the event, said: "This was a wonderful opportunity for our young women's football teams, and an excellent example of how the Council is helping to develop and provide activities for young people within the community."
