For young people looking to stay active during the winter months, weekly evening street sport sessions may be just the answer!
The free sessions, which are being run by High Peak Borough Council in partnership with Peak Active Sport and Derbyshire County Council's youth service, follow the highly successful scheme held in the summer.
The activities are part of the Safer Communities Through Sport project and are led by trained sports coaches. They are open to boys and girls, aged between 11 and 17 years old. No booking is required -- young people going to the area can just join in the wide range of sporting activities, which includes street hockey, basket ball and football.
The details of the sessions are as follows:
| Monday | Gamesley Community Sports Centre | 6.30pm-8.30pm |
|---|---|---|
| Wednesday | New Mills Co-op Car Park | 7pm-9pm |
| Thursday | Fairfield Centre | 7pm-9pm |
| Friday | Hadfield Youth Centre Fairfield Centre New Mills Set Valley Medical Centre |

Councillor Andrew Bingham, High Peak Borough Council's Executive Member for Community and Social Development, said: "I am really pleased to hear that the street sport sessions are being made available to young people across the whole of the Borough. I know that the summer scheme was extremely popular and the people who attended were keen for these sessions to be continued. So, if you want to stay active and keep fit during the winter months, please come along and join in the fun."
