Shop Local Prize Winners

Date: 20/12/2007

The Shop Local winners for the November and December draws are: Mrs Doris Ford of Buxton Road, Furness Vale; Janet Robinson of Nunsfield Road, Buxton; Mr Neville Vernon of Grange Park Avenue, Chapel-en-le-Frith; Lesley Kelly of New Market Street, Buxton; Lindsay Alker, of Hall Street, New Mills and Angie Jackson of Netherfield Road, Chapel-en-le-Frith.

All of the winners have been sent cheques for using their Shop Local passports whilst they shopped in the Borough.

The Shop Local passport scheme, which started in October, is open to all residents over 16 across the High Peak. Residents can pick up their 'passports' at participating retailers who display stickers in the shop window. Each time they buy something, customers will receive a sticker, regardless of the amount spent. When one of the sections on the passport has been completed, it can be handed in or posted to Buxton, Chapel, New Mills or Whaley Bridge Town Halls for the monthly draw.

Councillor Tony Kemp, High Peak Borough Council's Executive Member for Regeneration, said: "You can help to support local businesses and win prizes by doing your Christmas shopping locally! Collect your stickers between Christmas and the New Year for entry into the January draw."

The prize draws are a short-term programme, ending in March 2008, to reward and encourage residents who shop locally.
