Date: 09/01/2007

High Peak Borough Council has recently completed a character appraisal for Buxton's four conservation areas:

Character appraisals set out what is important about an area, in terms of its character, architecture, history, development form and landscaping. They are important documents in helping to guide appropriate development within conservation areas.

As a part of this assessment, the existing conservation area boundary has also been reviewed and several amendments to the current boundary are being proposed.

In brief, these are proposed extensions to include:

In addition Curzon Road and Kedleston Road are being proposed for redesignation.

Councillor Alan Wells, Executive Member for Economic Regeneration, said: "The Council would welcome your comments on both the contents of the character appraisal and proposed changes to the conservation area boundary.

"These can be viewed on the Council web site. Hard copies will also be available at Buxton Town Hall and Library. The consultation period will end on Friday, January 26, 2007."
