High Peak Disability Sports Group has received more than £600 to help members attend meetings.
The funding has been received through the Rural Transport Partnership Fund"s "Influence through Access" project, which aims to increase the group's membership by helping them with transport to the meetings, held every two months.
High Peak Disability Sports Group promotes opportunities in sport for disabled people in the High Peak. The group is currently involved in an audit of local sports clubs and activities, to produce an inclusive sports directory. They are also planning a High Peak Disability Sport Conference.
Those attending the group include residents and staff from Alderbrook Day Centre, people from learning, physical and sensory disability services, local community groups, representatives of organisations involved in the delivery of sport, volunteers and sport development professionals.
Emma Champion, Chair of the High Peak Disability Sports Group, said: "The next group meeting is at 5pm on Monday, February 19, at the Council Offices in Chinley. If you wish to attend and require transport, please let us know. The meeting will provide a wonderful forum for views, and we welcome new members with new ideas."
Disabled people who would like to attend the High Peak Disability Sports Group meetings, and require help or support with transport, are invited to call Emma Champion on 01457 853611 or 07947 832 413, or Dawn Richardson, High Peak Borough Council Sport Development Officer, on 0845 129 7777 extension 2210.
