High Peak Borough Council is seeking our residents' views for a play strategy, to plan local outdoor play facilities over the next five years.
The council has been offered the chance to bid for up to £200,000 of lottery grant funding towards play facilities in the borough, as part of the Children"s Play Programme sponsored by the Big Lottery Fund (BIG).
The play strategy will be used to support the bid to BIG in March 2007 and, if successful, to deliver the programme from 2008.
The council wants to hear directly from residents on how they view the provision of outside play equipment in public open spaces. The information from this questionnaire will be added to data from previous surveys, town and parish council health checks and plans, which have already identified some priorities.
The BIG funding will complement the council"s capital programme for investment in play facilities and will be overseen by a Play Partnership.
High Peak Borough Council"s Play Champion, Councillor Glynis Kirk, said: "This is a splendid opportunity for the council to bid for additional resources for play provision within the borough. Additionally, by developing a Play Strategy, we will be actively supporting play " highly valuable in the development of children and young people. Please take the time to complete the survey form " your input is important."
If you wish to assist in the survey, please complete the form and return it to: Corporate Team, Freepost NWW1730, High Peak Borough Council, High Peak, SK23 0ZX, by Friday, March 2, 2007.
