A major High Peak initiative to help Boost your Business has been launched in Buxton.
The exhibition has been organised for construction and facilities management businesses in the High Peak, to help them take advantage of local contracting opportunities, and will take place on Wednesday 21 March, from 9am to 4pm, in the Pavilion Gardens' Octagon and Paxton suite.
The Boost your Business project team - incorporating High Peak Borough Council, High Peak Community Housing, the University of Derby, Buxton, and Derbyshire County Council, with funding from the Peak District Rural Delivery Pathfinder - has arranged for more than 30 construction and related businesses to exhibit at the procurement and networking event.
Derbyshire Chamber, Business Link, Constructionline, the Federation of Small Businesses, contractors and members of the Boost your Business team will attend the event to provide a range of advice and support with training, recruitment and grant initiatives.
Presentations on working for the public sector, health and safety, environmental legislation and energy saving will take place throughout the day.
Councillor Alan Wells, High Peak Borough Council's Executive Member for Economic Regeneration, said: "The public sector in the High Peak is investing £20 million per year on construction and maintenance programmes. We want to help local businesses take advantage of this substantial spending by increasing awareness of contracting opportunities and by giving help with business advice, training and recruitment. We want to give High Peak businesses the chance to bid for the work that we do locally because it will have a bigger impact on the borough"s economy. This will ensure public sector spending has maximum impact in regenerating the High Peak."
