Calling all girls - Easter football festival needs you

High Peak Sports Development Team is inviting girls, aged eight to 14, to take part in a girls' football festival this Easter.

The festival will take place on Wednesday 4 April 2007, at New Mills Astroturf in Church Lane, New Mills, between 1pm and 4pm.

At the festival the participants will be able to demonstrate their skills in tournaments and penalty shoot-outs.

The event is being organised by High Peak Girls Football Development Group, a partnership between High Peak Borough Council, High Peak Schools Sport Partnership, specialist sports colleges, clubs, and the Derbyshire Football Association.

Representatives from local girls' football clubs will be attending, including Buxton Juniors, Gamesley Villa, Glossop North End and New Mills - all Football Association Charter Standard clubs.

Specially trained junior football organisers " girls aged between 14 and 16 - from Glossopdale Community College, St Philip Howard College, Chapel High School, Buxton Community School and St Thomas More School will be helping to run the festival.

Councillor John Pritchard, High Peak Borough Council"s Executive Member for Community and Social Development, said: "Make sure you sign up to take part in the Easter football festival. It sounds like a challenging and enjoyable way to spend an afternoon."
