Start your Christmas shopping at Peak Craft Fair

Date: 07/11/2007

Plenty of inspiration for creative Christmas gifts will be all wrapped up at the first ever in-house Craft Fair, organised by Buxton's Pavilion Gardens.

About 30 crafts people will showcase everything from jewellery to knitwear, and pottery to photography, at the event - part of the Pavilion Gardens' ever expanding portfolio of specialist fairs - this Saturday and Sunday, 10 and 11 November.

Quality items, including art, handmade cards, soaps and wooden crafts, will be available from local, regional and national exhibitors, hailing from Derbyshire and as far afield as Worcestershire.

The Craft Fair will be the first of a series to be held over the next 12 months, with the emphasis on highlighting hand-crafted work by small businesses. Others are planned for 8 and 9 March 2008, 6 and 7 September 2008, and 8 and 9 November 2008.

Councillor Tony Kemp, High Peak Borough Council's Executive Member for Regeneration, said: "Like the other regular specialist events at the Pavilion Gardens - such as the Artists and Designers Fairs, Plant and Garden Fairs, Regional Food Fairs and Farmers' Markets - we hope the Craft Fairs will become a popular feature of the High Peak calendar, catering for customers from both near and far."

"They will offer a great opportunity to buy hand-made items from an excellent selection of quality crafts, both from around the region and beyond, as well as the chance to enjoy a coffee and choice artwork by Peak District artists in the recently-refurbished Art Café. I am sure the first in the series will generate plenty of ideas for interesting and original Christmas gifts."

New exhibitors are always welcome. Anyone keen to take part in a future Craft Fair is invited to contact Chris Marrison, at the Pavilion Gardens, on 01298 23114.
