High Peak Community Safety Partnership and Derbyshire County Council's Youth Service have launched a new anti-social behaviour booklet especially for young people.
The booklet, What is anti-social behaviour?, defines anti-social behaviour and explains the powers of the police and the local authority in tackling the problem. It also explains young people's responsibilities and what they should do if they find themselves falling victims of anti-social behaviour.
Councillor Roger Wilkinson, Chairman of High Peak Community Safety Partnership, said: "The partnership would rather prevent anti-social behaviour than deal with its consequences. This booklet sets the record straight so that young people can make sure that they do not commit offences or become victims."
Councillor Andrew Bingham, High Peak Borough Council's Executive Member for Social and Community Development, dropped in to New Mills Youth Club to look at the booklet. He said: "I think young people will find this a useful source of information. They are often the victims of anti-social behaviour, and may sometimes be unaware that their own actions could be disturbing other people."
The booklet is available at all High Peak Borough Council reception areas and at local youth clubs. Anti-social behaviour advice is also available online at www.highpeak.gov.uk/neighbourhood/asb.asp on the Anti-Social Behaviour page of the Our Neighbourhood section.
