Cooking and eating for healthy hearts

Date: 22/11/2007

The next meeting of the Glossop and Gamesley Healthy Heart Group will be on Tuesday 11 December at 1 pm at Gamesley Community Centre.

The December meeting, which will be led by Tameside and Glossop Dietician Department, is going to focus on healthy cooking and eating.

The Heart Group is friendly and informal. Residents who have heart problems and their families and carers get together to chat with people in similar circumstances. The Group meets on the second Tuesday of each month to listen to guest speakers or to take occasional trips and days out.

This session is free, however, places are limited and must be booked in advance by ringing Gamesley Community Centre on 01457 869145.

Councillor Andrew Bingham, High Peak Borough Council's Executive Member for Community and Social Development, said: "A healthy diet can be a big step towards reducing your risk of developing heart disease, and can improve your chances of survival if you were ever to suffer a heart attack. If you have not been to the Healthy Heart Group before then do pop along and see how you can improve your diet and your health."

People who are interested in joining the Heart Group can speak to Lisa Jowitt on 01457 869038.
