Central Area Forum: Find out more about online services

Date: 01/10/2007

Community life and how to access on-line information, particularly for the over 50s, is the focus of the latest Central Area Forum at Cromford Court flats, New Road, Whaley Bridge on Thursday 4 October at 7pm.

Pre-forum refreshments at 6.45 pm will give residents the opportunity to view displays on local leisure, learning, and volunteering opportunities as well as local health and support services. Presentations will begin at 7pm including how to access High Peak Borough Council and Derbyshire County Council services and information online.

Councillor David Lomax, Chairman of the Central Area Forum, said: "We are focusing on introducing on-line services specifically to our older residents in response to interest shown at the Liberation Day event in June. Clearly, obtaining information, accessing services, and making payments and bookings on-line appeals to people, they just need to be given extra confidence on how to do it."

Computers are being set up at the Forum and young people from local senior schools will be on hand to help during a whistle stop session introducing internet use.

The meeting will also include feedback from the last Forum, and an open question and answer session.

Cromford Court has facilities for wheelchair users and a hearing loop will be available.
