It is expected that a decision be made later this week about the future of Easton House located on High Street East in Glossop.
A report will recommend that Easton House be marketed for sale or long-term lease. People who are interested in purchasing the building or leasing Easton House will be asked to submit their plans to the Council through an informal tender process. This will allow the interested party to provide details on their suggested end use for the property, which will have to meet the approval of Council Members and the Executive.
Councillor John Haken, Executive Member for the Environment said: "The Council has considered all the options for Easton House and is now in a position to recommend that the property is marketed for sale or a long-term lease.
"We would like to reassure local people that if the report is approved we will take every care in selecting the most suitable buyer or leaseholder for Easton House. This Council will not necessarily be swayed by the highest bidder but will base their choice on the quality of the bid and suitability for use.
He added: "We have received lots of suggestions for social uses and will look sympathetically at all options."
