Bulb-planting weekend!

High Peak's Friends of the parks groups and the council's parks team are inviting volunteers to help with a bit of community gardening this weekend.

The Friends of Manor Park in Glossop are meeting at 10 am on Saturday 27 October in the Corn Street car park. They will be be planting spring bulbs in the banking of the car park until midday, and would love some extra help from the public.

The Friends of the Memorial Park in Whaley Bridge are meeting at 10 am on Sunday 28 October at the Wheatsheaf Road entrance to the park. They will welcome residents who would like to help plant spring bulbs in the woodland areas until midday.

Bulbs and trowels will be provided at both events and council staff will be on hand to help out.

Councillor Andrew Bingham, High Peak Borough Council's Executive Member for Community and Social Development, said: "The Friends groups do a really good job in making our parks so attractive. Why not get your gardening gear on and give them a hand this weekend!"
