Members of High Peak Community Safety Partnership met up at Hadfield last week to try out their new graffiti removal kits.
The kits, which have been funded by Derbyshire County Council, Derbyshire Police and Derby and Derbyshire Economic Partnership, have been given to community groups, businesses and other organisations to help keep the High Peak tidy.
The initiative is part of the Big Derbyshire Clean Up, which encourages everyone to help improve the quality of life in their neighbourhoods.
The graffiti removal kits contain products and equipment that remove graffiti safely from a variety of surfaces such as concrete, bricks, glass, metals, plastics and painted surfaces.
Councillor Roger Wilkinson, Chair of High Peak Community Safety Partnership, said: "The aim of the Big Derbyshire Clean Up is to clear the streets of graffiti and litter and reduce the associated problems of anti social behaviour. Involving the community makes an immediate and visible impact on an area."
Inspector Stuart Thompson from Derbyshire Police said: "The Safer Neighbourhood Teams have distributed twenty kits to community groups and businesses throughout Glossopdale. Graffiti attracts further damage and anti-social behaviour, so we see the new kits as a valuable means of reducing vandalism and the fear of crime."
Councillor Andrew Bingham, High Peak Borough Council's Executive Member for Social and Community Development, said: "I welcome the graffiti removal kits. The council wants to make it easy for all members of the community to feel that they can help keep the places where they live and work clean and safe."
