The bronze cricket award is the first level of the English Cricket Board scheme and is open to boys and girls aged 9 to13 years. Fully qualified coaches take all of the sessions. Those who pass get a certificate and can move onto the silver award coaching which starts on 3 November 2007.
The six-week bronze award course starts on Saturday 22 September. Sessions will be held on Saturday afternoons from 2 to 4 pm. The course costs £36.
Coaching will take place in the sports hall at Glossop Leisure Centre. Places on the course must be booked in advance.
Councillor Andrew Bingham, High Peak Borough Council's Executive Member for Social and Community Development, said: "Any young children that would like to get involved in cricket could benefit from this course. The sessions are led by fully qualified coaches, so the participants gain the maximum benefit as well as having some fun learning a terrific sport."
