Fun at Sett Valley run with Emmerdale's Bob Hope

Tony Audenshaw, who plays Bob Hope in ITV's Emmerdale, came second in the men's 5-mile event at the New Mills Fun Run on Sunday.

A total of 82 competitors took part in the event, which consisted of 2 races: a 5-mile run to Hayfield and back, and a 3-mile return race to Birch Vale.

For the second year Amber Whewell won the ladies 5-mile event, and Darren Peatfield and Zoe Lofthouse won the 3-mile race. Sean Whewell won the men's 5-mile event.

To add to the fun, the leisure centre's fitness suite staff dressed as Red Riding Hood characters. Fitness suite co-ordinator Neil Thomasson, made a delightful Red and Jane Griffiths was a fearsome wolf. Other staff marshalled the race dressed in swim caps, masks, flippers and snorkels.

Each winner received a trophy and vouchers, and all the competitors won a medal.

Councillor Andrew Bingham, High Peak Borough Council's Executive Member for Community and Social Development, said: "The Fun Run was a brilliant success, with the largest turn out yet - congratulations to everyone who took part. It just goes to show, that exercise can be great fun!"
