Community grants awarded

Date: 27/09/2007

High Peak Borough Council is awarding funds to 7 voluntary and community organisations that applied to the Small Grants Pot element of the Community Fund.

The Small Grants Pot is available for annual bids from voluntary and community organisations that wish to have one-off small amounts to support specific projects. The fund normally considers bids of up to £500 per project.

Each organisation has been awarded £500, which they plan to use for a diverse range of activities to benefit the community.

The awards were made following assessment of the bids using criteria that reflect the council's key aims.

Councillor Andrew Bingham, High Peak Borough Council's Executive Member for Community and Social Development, said: "I am pleased that the council is able to help smaller community groups and voluntary sector with these one-off projects. One of our aims is to support the community and I think that this is reflected in this round of awards."

He added: "The second round of funding for this year starts in October. So if you have a suitable community project please make an application."

Applications for the second round of funding will be accepted between 1 October and 30 November.
