High Peak Borough Council is consulting residents about BT's proposal to remove 37 payphones from the High Peak area.
BT's proposal is in response to a drop in the use of public payphones. With more people using mobile phones and home phones, about 60% of payphones in Great Britain no longer cover their costs.
The Council is gathering the views of the local residents and parish councils, to consider these before responding to BT.
The Social Inclusion and Community Select Committee has consulted ward councillors, and parish councils, and has prepared a draft decision on which payphones should be kept or removed. It is now our residents' turn to comment on the proposal.
Andrew Bingham, Executive Councillor for Social and Community Development, said: "The Council welcomes public views on these proposals to assist us so that we can draft our final decision. So please have a look at the list of payphones, and let us know if you have an opinion."
