The Council's Parks Team is consulting residents about how they think Whaley Bridge Memorial Park could be improved.
The information gathered will be used to support a bid to the Heritage Lottery Parks for People programme. Possible improvements to the park include resurfacing of paths, new play equipment, new bins, signs, seating and information panels.
The Council is using GreenSTAT questionnaires to help them with the exercise. GreenSTAT is a system that gives local residents the opportunity to comment on the quality of their open spaces and how well they feel they are being managed and maintained.
Officers will be meeting residents at Tesco in Whaley Bridge from Thursday, August 28, to Saturday, August 30, 2008, between 9am and 8 pm. Interested residents will be able to write their comments on questionnaire forms and hand them to the officers on any of these days.
John Haken, Executive Councillor for the Environment, said: "We are relying on the people who live in Whaley Bridge and who use the Memorial Park, to pass on their ideas for improvement. The consultation questionnaires will help us to plan our actions and prepare for the funding bid."
Residents who take part in the survey before Friday, September 12, 2008, will be eligible for a prize draw, for a meal, worth up to £70, at a venue of their choice within the High Peak.
