Brand new facilities for toddlers and young children will be unveiled at Furness Vale in the first project to be completed as part of a £200,000 investment in improving play areas across the High Peak.
The Mayor of High Peak, Councillor Robin Baldry, will officially open the new facilities at the play area, off Charlesworth Crescent, on Tuesday, September 2, at 3pm. These include climbing units, cradle swings, a see saw and basket swing.
Children are welcome to join in free activities -- such as circus skills, face painting, football and dodge ball throughout the afternoon -- between 1pm and 4pm, to celebrate the event. The launch of the new facilities is part of a borough-wide programme, financed by a grant from the Big Lottery Fund.
Other sites earmarked for improvement include Newshaw Lane and Bankswood Park in Hadfield; Harpur Hill, Brown Edge Road and Ashwood Park in Buxton; and a number of sites in parishes across the High Peak.
"This new wave of improvement work will build on the £435,000 we invested over two years, in various play areas in Buxton, Glossop and Hadfield, and will extend quality facilities to children using smaller sites throughout the borough," said Andrew Bingham, Executive Councillor for Social and Community Development.
