Santa makes an early visit to Bankswood

Date: 02/12/2008

Santa is making an early call at Bankswood Park on Sunday, December 7, 2008, to help celebrate the opening of the new play area.

Families are invited to join Santa in the seasonal fun that includes: children's rides, face painting, a raffle, tombola and other stalls. The cake stall will be selling mince pies and inviting children to decorate their own reindeer gingerbread.

The Mayor of High Peak, Councillor Robin Baldry, will open the refurbished play area at 11 am and the fun will continue until 3pm.

The opening event has been organised by High Peak Borough Council, Derbyshire County Council Youth Services and the Hadfield Youth Officials group

The refurbishment, which was funded by the BIG Lottery, is the latest in a series of improvements across the Borough. Play areas at Furness Vale and Brosscroft and Newshaw Lane in Hadfield have also benefited from exciting new equipment for children of all ages.

There will be a small charge for some of the activities to raise funds for the Hadfield Youth Officials group to help them make improvements to the parks in Hadfield.

Andrew Bingham, Executive Councillor for Social and Community Development, said: "Come along and join Santa this Sunday to have some fun and take a look at the new Bankswood play equipment."
