High Peak Borough Council is working in partnership with Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs Advice Team to provide a number of free workshops for self-employed people and those thinking of becoming self-employed.
The "Becoming Self Employed" half-day workshops provide information on how to register as self-employed, set up and maintain business records, and pay tax and National Insurance contributions.
These morning workshops will take place between 9.30am and 1.15pm at Glossop Volunteer Centre on Tuesday 19 February and New Mills Adult Education Centre on Tuesday 11 March 2008.
The "Self Assessment for the Self Employed" workshop is for people who are already self-employed and provides information on new tax returns and changes to self-assessment and allowable expenses. This workshop takes place on Thursday 8 May between 9.30am and 3.30pm at Glossop Gas Works.
Councillor Tony Kemp, High Peak Borough Council's Executive Member for Regeneration, said: "This is another example of how the Council has earned its excellent reputation for working with partners and the business community to develop the local economy. If you think you will benefit from one of the workshops then book your place now."
