The team at Gamesley Community Centre, in partnership with Gamesley Library and Groundwork Gamesley, have arranged a fun-packed timetable of activities for this half term.
On Monday 18 February, there are 2 sessions at Gamesley library: between 1 pm and 4 pm, children aged 6 to 11 years can make posters and displays on the theme of making a safer community; and between 5 pm and 6:30 pm, young people aged from 11 years can take part in a lyric workshop, creating a poem, song or rap with their friends, and then filming it to put on the internet. Both sessions cost £1.
On Tuesday 19 February, all of the family can enjoy a free swimming trip at Glossop pool between 10 am and 2 pm. Free transport will be provided from Gamesley nursery (booking essential). Between 4.30 pm and 5.30 pm, children aged 4 to 6 years can attend a creative crafts session for £1 at Gamesley Community Centre.
On Wednesday 20 February, kids (6 to 11 years old) can enjoy some inflatable fun on the bouncy castle between 4.30 pm and 5.30 pm for 60p. Just turn up at Gamesley Community Centre.
Gamesley library is holding a special story time for parents and toddlers between 2 pm and 3 pm on Thursday 21 February.
There is also a trip to Sheffield Ice Rink between midday and 6pm on Thursday 21 February for young people aged 11 years plus. The cost is £1.00 for residents, and £3.50 for non-residents. This includes travel, skate hire and entry to Sheffield Ice Rink. Booking is essential and those attending should take a packed lunch.
On Friday 22 February, all of the family can enjoy the Ultimate Bird of Prey Show between 1pm and 2pm at Gamesley Community Centre. Eagles, vultures, falcons, kites, hawks and owls will be giving full flight demonstrations and there will be an opportunity to handle some of the birds. Tickets are £2.50 and should be booked in advance - discounted tickets are available Gamesley residents and families.
Between midday and 4pm every day during the holiday there is free use of the outdoor games area, funded by Derbyshire County Council and Gamesley Healthy Living Centre.
From 4pm to 9pm children can play on the outdoor courts for just 60p each - subject to availability. (Deposits for equipment are required).
Councillor Andrew Bingham, High Peak Borough Council's Executive Member for Social and Community Development, said: "This is a fantastic programme of events arranged by the team at Gamesley Community Centre for young people this half term. There really is something for everyone. I would recommend giving the centre a call straight away to book your places early and really make it a half term to remember!"
