Refurbishment work to Furness Vale Play Area and Sports Court is due to start this week and will see the installation of exciting new play and sports equipment.
As part of the consultation process, visits to Furness Vale Primary School were carried out to consult the children about the different types of equipment they would like to see in the play area. The results of the questionnaire, completed by local residents, and the feedback from the school children, have formed the basis for the improvement work.

Andrew Bingham, Executive Councillor for Social and Community Development, said: "This is great news for the people of Furness Vale and I would like to thank them for their comments and feedback, which have helped to shape these improvements. Getting local school children involved in the consultation has been fantastic - after all, these young customers are the ones who will use this facility!"
Councillor Bingham added: "The refurbishment work will start this week, on Wednesday, July 9, and we anticipate that the work will be completed by the end of July 2008. I must stress that there will be significant building work taking place, as part of the refurbishment, but we are aiming to keep disruption to a minimum. The play area and sports court will remain closed during this time."
