Glossop - Norfolk Square

New figures released by the Government reveal that High Peak Borough Council's performance on major planning applications was the best in the country in 2007-2008.

High Peak was one of only four councils, across England, to achieve a 100% record in its determination of planning applications. All 27 major applications, handled by the Council in 2007-2008, were decided within the national target of 13 weeks.

Major applications include the largest and most complex types of development, including new housing estates and commercial premises.

Linda Baldry, Executive Councillor for Planning, said: "Timely decisions on planning applications are beneficial to businesses and the public alike. We aim to provide a high quality, efficient and cost effective planning service to the people of High Peak."
