Fun packed holiday programme kicks off next week

A fun packed holiday programme of children's activities, exciting sports and leisure classes, interesting sessions and family events have been organised by High Peak Leisure Services and Gamesley Community Centre.
Glossop Leisure Centre has a wide range of diverse activities including:
- Tag Rugby on Tuesday 5 August (for 7 to 11 year olds) for £3 between 2pm and 3.30pm and
- bowling at Kingsmoor Leisure Centre (for 8 year olds and above) for £9.50 on Friday 15 August, between 3pm and 7pm.
- On Thursday 21 August, children aged 8 to 15 years can attend a tour of Manchester United Football club starting at 9.30am and costing £13.
Glossop Victorian Pool is offering some serious water action, when 8 to 15 year olds can ride and glide through the water, at speeds of over 4 kilometres per hour, using the ever-popular aquascooters. Sessions are on Wednesday mornings, between 9am and 10am, and run every week from July 28 until September 5.
Buxton Pool also has a variety of swim sessions and swimming lessons, including some drier fun laid on at
- the Zoolab sessions on July 30, August 6 and 27, and September 3.
- On Mondays, August 4 and 18, (10am-11am), there will be Planetarium sessions at £3.50.
New Mills Leisure Centre has arranged for some bouncing with their trampoline taster sessions. Classes will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays each week - three afternoon sessions on each of those days - with children aged 7 to 13 years being able to attend (£4).
Gamesley Community Centre will be holding
- The Ultimate Bird of Prey Show on Monday, August 18, at 10.30am-11.30am, priced at £3.50 (£2.75 for Gamesley residents).
- There will also be a trip to Alton Towers on Thursday, August 7, (11 - 21 years) from 9.30am to 6pm, priced at £25. Young people, who are attending, must be members of the Derbyshire County Council Youth Service (a href="/active/Youth_Service_form.pdf">Download a form here to fill in and bring along to your first Youth Service activity).
- Orienteering sessions have also been organised, along with a mobile planetarium;
- Anyone attending one of the Centre's skipping sessions, will receive a free skipping rope, worth over £3.50.
Andrew Bingham, Executive Councillor for Social and Community Development, said: "There is a fantastic range of sports and fun activities available to children and young people this summer, as well as the Council's free swim offer to all children, aged 16 and under.
