Buxton enters this environmental competition each year and is the current champion in this category.

The competition is judged on the town's floral displays, permanent planting, sustainability (recycling, environmental management) and community involvement.

Judges were shown highlights, including St Anne's Primary School, Milnthorpe Homes, Pavilion Gardens and the floral displays in the town centre and gateways to the town.

They were particularly impressed by how the community is involved in projects, right across the town, and the sponsorship and fund raising activities.

Jane Mcgrother, Chairperson of Buxton in Bloom, said: "As the Chair of Buxton in Bloom, may I congratulate all those involved -- staff, volunteers and the gardeners who took part in the town's competitions. The whole route looked lovely for the judging day."

Andrew Bingham, Executive Councillor for Social and Community Development, said: "The efforts of Buxton in Bloom make a real difference to the town, and demonstrate how successful partnerships can bring about lasting positive changes and benefits for residents and visitors alike."

The results of the competition are expected in September.
