Do you know any one who deserves to be nominated for one of High Peak's prestigious Sports Awards?
High Peak Borough Council is reminding friends, families, sports coaches, club and team members, teachers and pupils that the closing date to submit candidate nominations for the 2008 Sports Awards is Friday, August 22.
The awards recognise and celebrate the sporting success of athletes and those involved in sport at all levels, who either live in High Peak or who attend clubs and schools within the Borough. This is a great opportunity to ensure that people involved in sport, in the High Peak, are recognised for their achievement and commitment in sport rather participating, volunteering or coaching.
The winners of the Borough awards will qualify for the Derbyshire Sports Awards held at Pride Park Stadium in Derby.
Nominations can be made for the following categories:
Nominations can be made by anyone and people can be nominated for more than one award. Self-nominations will also be accepted.
Councillor Andrew Bingham, High Peak Borough Council's Executive Member for Community and Social Development, said: "There are many talented sportsmen and women in the High Peak playing a wide range of sports. Don't forget you can make nominations in more than one category, and can nominate more than one candidate. Who do you know that deserves to win? Let us know!"
Nomination forms and eligibility criteria can be found at the Sports Awards 2008 page.
Alternatively, forms can be obtained from Chris Nightingale, Sports Development Officer, on 0845 129 7777 extension 2210, or email chrisnightignale@highpeak.gov.uk.
