Keen gardeners are invited to help with the Gamesley Community Garden Project every Wednesday between 1.30pm and 3:30pm.
Volunteers of all ages and abilities will be welcome at the Community Garden, which is just a short walk from Gamesley Community Centre. All of the gardening equipment is provided and refreshments and fruit are available after each session. Suitable clothing should be worn.
The project, which is supported by Tameside and Glossop Primary Care Trust, has a £1,000 lottery grant, and volunteers are invited to contribute ideas on how the funding may be used to develop the garden.
Councillor Andrew Bingham, High Peak Borough Council's Executive Member for Social and Community Development, said: "Gardening is a great way to keep active and meet new people. The Community Garden Project has been running for five years now, and has a successful and loyal band of volunteers who welcome newcomers. You can choose a variety of things to do in the garden - even if you fancy coming along and doing something that's not too strenuous!"
