The community is going to benefit from High Peak Borough Council's decision to lease Easton House as a doctor's surgery and chemist.
The Council has taken the decision to lease this popular building to Maken Investments Ltd on a 95-year lease, because of the benefit of the proposed medical services to Glossop residents.
The building will be refurbished in a way that preserves as much of its character as possible.
The transfer of the building will contribute to the Council's aims of supporting people and improving the quality of life by providing a much-needed medical facility in Howard Town, and by creating jobs and prosperity. The proposed surgery will ensure that local people do not have far to travel to take advantage of improved medical facilities and the town will benefit from an important investment in its built heritage.
By leasing the building, the Council will generate cash to invest in its priorities and continue the regeneration of the town by bringing much-needed services and jobs within the reach of local people.
Councillor John Haken, High Peak Borough Council's Executive Member for the Environment, said: "I am delighted that we are transferring Easton House in a way that will improve medical services for local residents and make a real contribution to the continued regeneration of Glossop."
