High Peak Borough Council plans to continue the formal action against unauthorised development in Dale Road, in Buxton.
At a meeting on Tuesday, April 29, 2008, the Development Control Committee agreed to authorise the issue of an enforcement notice and stop notice, if required.
Site clearance started at the end of March, on land on the south side of Dale Road, in Buxton. This land has outline planning permission for 14 homes -- but these are limited, by condition, to the western part of the site. The remainder of the land, which is a Derbyshire wildlife site, is intended to be managed for the benefit of nature conservation.
On Wednesday, April 2, 2008, the Council brought the unauthorised work on the site to a halt by serving a temporary stop notice.
Tony Kemp, Executive Councillor for Regeneration, said: "The Council acted promptly to stop this building work which was taking place without consent. Sadly, considerable damage has already been caused to the fragile environment of the dale side. Regrettably, it will now take some time to put things right, but the Council will work with its nature conservation advisers and is determined to see the area restored."
