Grab a handful of cash to make High Peak greener

Date: 13/05/2008

High Peak Borough Council is inviting groups operating throughout the Borough to apply for grants for environment projects, as part of our Going Local initiative for cleaner, greener and safer communities.

The grants of up to £500 are to help charities, voluntary organisations, community groups and schools reduce energy use, save water, cut down on waste or reduce transport impacts.

The environment grants are limited to 2008 only. They will be allocated on a first come first served basis, as long as the applications meet the aims of the grants scheme.

John Haken, Executive Councillor for the Environment, said: "Climate change is today's most significant challenge and it faces everyone. The Council wants to encourage community groups to take action to reduce the impact of their activities upon the environment. If you belong to an organisation that has some ideas about helping to improve our environment, then please consider making an application for an environment grant."

Application forms, and the criteria by which applications will be awarded, can be viewed and downloaded from Thursday 15 May, from the Environment section of our website at: www.highpeak.gov.uk/environment/energy/. Applications can also be made online.

Alternatively, you can request application forms from us by calling 0845 129 77 77, or by collecting them personally from one of the Council's receptions.
