Glossop Leisure Centre has a range of activities on offer during May half term, to entertain children, aged from 4 to 16 years. The fun-packed programme runs from Tuesday 27 May, for four days.
On Tuesday afternoon, from 1pm, there is a Pink and Glitter session for the artisticly inclined (£3.50) and a Total Sport afternoon for those feeling more energetic (£2.25). Both activities are for 6 to 11 year olds.
Wednesday sees the return of the Space Planetarium -- a virtual demonstration inside a large inflatable dome -- and a space craft session for children, aged 6 to 12 years old (only £6.50 inclusive). The event starts at 1.30pm.
On Thursday, children, of age 9 and upward, can book up for a supervised bike ride along the Longdendale trail. The excursion starts at 9.30am and finishes at 3.45pm. The cost is £5.50. Cyclists should bring 60p for the train fare from Glossop to Hadfield, as well as drinks, food, waterproof clothing and, hopefully, sun cream!
Friday's finale is the Energy Blast -- an action packed day of sports and activities at the leisure centre, starting at 9.30am and finishing at 4pm. Children, aged 8 to 13 years old, can choose to do as many or as few sessions as they wish, from a choice of: boxfit, football, combat circuit, dodgeball and much more. The cost varies depending on the number of sessions. The full day costs £12 only.
Andrew Bingham, Executive Member for Social and Community Development, said: "Again, we have arranged a fantastic range of sports and fun activities available at Glossop Leisure Centre this half term. I hope that there is something for everyone, no matter what their interests. I would urge that people book their places early, as I am sure the events will soon fill up. We always try to provide a wide range of events, but if any young people think there is something else that we could do, I would urge them to contact the Council or myself."
