Promoting community safety in Hadfield

Date: 13/11/2008

Hadfield residents, who are worried about crime and anti-social behaviour, will have the chance to air their concerns at a Community Safety Team walkabout on Thursday, November 27, 2008, from 2pm to 5pm.

High Peak Borough Council and Derbyshire Constabulary have joined forces to encourage residents to share their views on safety issues affecting their community and pick up useful tips on crime prevention.

The walkabout forms part of a 10-day long 'Beat Sweep', by police officers in Glossop, to help make life better for the whole community.

Andrew Bingham, Executive Councillor for Community and Social Development, with the Mayor of High Peak, Councillor Robin Baldry, and ward councillors will also take part in the event.

Councillor Bingham said: "I hope that Hadfield residents will take the opportunity to come and chat to us on the walkabout. We want to know how the Council and the police can help residents with their concerns, and welcome views and discussions about the way forward in Hadfield."

Inspector Gareth Meadows, from Derbyshire Police, said: "We want to target those issues that affect the community and it is important you let us know what we can do to help you. The walkabout is a chance for local people to highlight their concerns and see that, by working together, we can help make Hadfield an even safer place to live."

To book a place on the walkabout, please ring Hannah Cocker, the Anti Social Behaviour Officer, on 0845 129 7777 ext 2056.
