Glossop Leisure Centre is offering supervised personal exercise courses for young people again this winter.
The courses, which are supervised by qualified National Academy trainers, are tailored to suit each participant individually. Personal cardiovascular programmes include balance and coordination, speed, agility and strength training.
Over two months, the young people will be working out in the gym twice a week for 45 minutes. They will be training on cardiovascular machines, such as treadmills, bikes, resistance equipment and with weights,
Before signing up for a course, the participants will attend a personal assessment with a parent or guardian present. These 30-minute assessments will help the coaches to identify the specific needs and goals of each young person, so that an appropriate training plan can be drawn up.
At the end of the eight-week period, each child will be assessed to see what improvements have been made, in areas such as strength, cardiovascular capacity, weight, flexibility and body mass index (BMI).
The courses, which are open to young people, aged 11-15, of all levels of fitness and ability, have started.
There are two sessions a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays, between 4.15pm and 5pm.
The courses are limited to 10 children, and cost £60 for eight weeks
