Pressure from High Peak Borough Council has persuaded owners to clean up a prominent derelict building in Gamesley, Glossop.
The former Samas Roneo premises has been empty for a number of years, and its appearance was beginning to deteriorate, with many broken windows facing onto the main Glossop Road.
Council planners initiated discussions with the absentee owners, encouraging them to improve the premises without having to resort to formal action, under the Planning Acts. As a result, the site has been tidied and the windows have been boarded up.
"We are delighted that the site's owners have acted responsibly and have improved the appearance of such a prominent building," said Linda Baldry, Executive Councillor for Planning. "We are keen to work with owners of such sites to remove local eyesores and help to keep High Peak a beautiful place to live and work."
