Ballet and tap dancing classes, for children aged three years and older, are available at Gamesley Community Centre.
Gamesley Community Centre Partnership has been working with the Cheshire Dance Academy, for three years, to provide ballet and tap dancing classes, every Saturday morning, from 9am to 12.30pm.
Half-hour lessons, which cost £3.50, are available from the centre, in Melandra Castle Road. A number of extra places are currently available for children, aged three to five years, in the class, which runs from 9am to 9.30am.
The ballet and tap classes promote discipline, coordination, memory, flexibility, strength, line, grace and stamina. Performing builds self-esteem and confidence, and can help with other sports -- and is just great fun.
Andrew Bingham, Executive Councillor for Community and Social Development, said: "I am pleased that we can offer dance opportunities locally. Young people love to move, stretch and jump, and dance classes allow them to do these activities in a way that develops creativity, educates and inspires them."
The classes are taught by qualified teacher, Rachel Telfer.
Ms Telfer said: "As long as children can listen and stay focused, no age is too young to get them started. In my classes, I like to introduce children from age three. Kids' attention span is about 30 minutes, so we cater for this and we keep our classes fresh and interesting."
Budding dancers are invited to one free taster session.
