High Peak Borough Council and Derbyshire County Council are following on from the success of previous real nappy events and continuing to support this national campaign by scheduling a series of Nappuccinos at two different locations in High Peak -- the Central Methodist Church in Glossop, and Buxton Library.
The dates and times are as follows:
The Nappuccinos are aimed at new and expectant mothers and fathers who want to find out more about real nappies, in a relaxed and friendly setting. There will be lots of samples on display, a demonstration, and an expert to answer all your questions.
The Derbyshire Real Nappy Incentive Scheme offers £25 cashback on washable nappies for Derbyshire residents, and aims to reduce the quantity of nappies being sent to landfill sites, and save money for residents.
John Haken, High Peak Borough Council's Executive Councillor for the Environment, said: "Eight million nappies are thrown away every day in the UK, so promotion of real nappies is an important part of minimising the amount of waste produced in the borough and across the county.
Councillor Haken added: "The benefits of real nappies are not just environmental, however; they now come in a range of modern and funky styles, and with Velcro and poppers, there's not a safety pin in sight! Washing is easy, with a take out and flush away lining -- so no more boiling. There are even laundry services around which will wash them for you. In addition, the total cost of using real nappies can be half that of using disposables.
"These events are great for informing the public about the benefits of real nappies, so come along and have a look!"
