High Peak Borough Council is inviting residents to a public meeting to learn more about the proposed congestion charge for Greater Manchester.
The meeting will be held at Bradbury Community House, Market Street, Glossop, Derbyshire SK13 8AR on Thursday, October 2, 2008, at 7pm.
Officers from the Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Authority will present their proposals and will answer residents' questions. Officers and Councillors from High Peak Borough Council will also be present.
The meeting will look at the proposed congestion charge, planned public transport improvements linking High Peak with Greater Manchester and how they might affect residents and businesses in the Borough.
If you cannot attend the meeting, you are welcome to submit questions for the evening to the Council.
Questions can be submitted to Mark James, at Planning Policy and Design, Municipal Buildings, Glossop, SK13 8AF, or email markj@highpeak.gov.uk. Alternatively you can call 0845 129 77 77 extension 3643.
The meeting complements a public consultation about the proposals being conducted by Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Authority and the Association of Greater Manchester Authorities.
Councillor Tony Ashton, Leader of High Peak Borough Council, said: "The proposed congestion charge has the potential to affect residents who commute to, or who visit Manchester regularly. Businesses could also be affected because of the financial and practical implications of the proposals. Please come along to the meeting to ask questions. I would also encourage residents and business representatives to take part in the public consultation."
