High Peak Borough Council has advised that there will be no outdoor or indoor market operating this Bank Holiday Monday - 13 April.
The reason for this decision is that only a handful of traders have confirmed an intention to be present on that day.
A Council spokesperson said: "The Council very much regrets the situation, but it would obviously be very wrong to leave people under the impression that a full market would be operating only for them to arrive and be disappointed that so few stalls were actually present. In the circumstances, it was felt best to cancel the Bank Holiday Market and we will enter into urgent discussions with traders regarding the future situation."
