As a gesture of support, High Peak Borough Council have agreed to loan Glossop North End football club the use of a market stall to help raise funds for their dream trip to Wembley on 10 May.
A vacant market stall on Glossop indoor market will be made available to the team free of charge. This will help the Club to raise money to buy new kits and cover the team's travel expenses to the Wembley arena.
The Council will waive the normal £120 legal fees required to set up trader agreements, and also the normal weekly rental of £60 over each of the next 4 weeks. The stall will be operated by local volunteers and supporters and will sell a variety of items to their many loyal supporters.
Tony Kemp, Executive Councillor for Regeneration said: "Glossop North End's achievement in making it to Wembley is one that everyone in the town can be really proud of - in fact, the whole of the High Peak is behind them and is hoping for victory. All credit to the team and supporters who have helped to make this possible."
"The Council are sure that local people would want us to do everything we can to support this special event and we hope this small gesture of goodwill will go some way toward funding this important day. Though not normally a football fan, I shall be going down with several of my fellow councillors to watch the match, so I'd better get down to Glossop market myself and buy a scarf! Can I take this opportunity to wish the team luck and hope they come back with a trophy!"
