Together with High Peak Community Sports Network, the Borough Council are inviting nominations for this year's Sports Awards 2009.
Celebrating the sporting success of athletes, the awards are a way of recognising the achievements of our local athletes and those involved in sport at all levels, who either live in High Peak or who attend clubs or schools within the Borough.
Nominations can be received from any individual who knows someone involved in sport within the Borough. Please note that teams and individuals can be nominated for more than one award - self-nominations will also be accepted.
The categories are as follows:
Successful nominations will be invited to attend a special awards ceremony at Pavilion Gardens in Buxton on 1 October, 2009. The winners also qualify for the Derbyshire Sports Awards and will be invited to attend a further presentation event at Pride Park in Derby.
Executive councillor for Community and Social Development Andrew Bingham said: "There are many talented sportsmen and women in the High Peak playing a wide range of sports. Don't forget you can make nominations in more than one category, and can nominate more than one candidate. If you know someone who you think deserves to win an award, please return your application to us as soon as you can!"
Nomination forms can be found at www.highpeak.gov.uk in the sports development section of the leisure and culture pages. Alternatively, forms can be obtained from Chris Nightingale, sports development officer, on 0845 129 77 77 extension 2210, or email Chris.nightingale@highpeak.gov.uk.
The closing date for nominations is Friday 21 August 2009.
