Face painting, circus skills and sports will be among the activities on offer during a Fun Day at Hadfield on Sunday 23 August.
Running from 1pm to 4pm in Brosscroft Park, the event has been organised by High Peak Borough Council, Derbyshire County Council Youth Services and the Hadfield Youth Officials group to celebrate the unveiling of new play equipment.
Other attractions on the menu include a cake stall, arts and crafts, and a graffiti project being led by street arts group Spearfish for young people aged 13 to 19. Spearfish, who are a group of professional graffiti artists experienced at working with community groups, have done several projects in the High Peak with young people in the parks.
The new equipment, which in total cost approximately £40,000, was funded by the borough council, Hadfield Youth Officials young people's group, Johnnie Johnson Housing, and the Community Priorities Fund of Derbyshire County Councillor George Wharmby.
To mark the unveiling of the equipment, Councillor Wharmby will cut a ribbon at 3pm.
Said Andrew Bingham, the borough's Executive Councillor for Social and Community Development: "The joint working here is a credit to all parties and it has delivered these new facilities for children and young people. The new equipment will give opportunities for healthy outdoor exercise and provide a meeting point for young people too".
The play area is off Brosscroft and Padfield Main Road, next to the doctor's surgery.
