Date: 18/12/2009

Fitness fans looking to shed a few pounds after the Christmas excesses have been invited to attend a free open day at Glossop Leisure Centre.

Run by DC Leisure for High Peak Borough Council, the complex will throw open its doors on Monday 11 January for group exercise classes featuring cardio blast from 6.30pm to 7.15pm, boxercise from 7.30pm to 8.15pm, and circuit training from 8.30pm to 9.15pm.

With priority booking for existing members from Monday 21 December, newcomers are urged to book early to avoid disappointment.

Other highlights of the free for all will include:

Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service will offer fire safety advice and free smoke alarms, Bulldog Fashions will offer up to 50 per cent off all outdoor clothing while the Barista café will serve up a free finger buffet.

Just for good measure, free fruit smoothies will be on offer.

Said Andrew Bingham, Executive Councillor for Social and Community Development: "While we all enjoy the indulgences of Christmas, the time comes when we need to shed those excess pounds. I can't imagine a better way to start than with the free sessions at Glossop Leisure Centre".
