High Peak Borough Council is inviting people in Harpur Hill to comment on how £10,000 of grant funding should be spent on the Harpur Hill play area.

The funding is part of a £200,000 grant from the Big Lottery Fund, which aims to deliver a variety of improvements to play facilities throughout the Borough.

The award of £10,000 for Harpur Hill follows the development of the Council's play strategy, 'Playtime in the Peak,' which identified priorities for improvement and builds upon last year's projects at Furness Vale and Hadfield, Glossop. Other projects for this year include Brown Edge Road Play Area and Ashwood Park in Buxton.

People who live near to the play area in Harpur Hill will shortly receive a questionnaire asking their opinions on how it should be developed.

Residents will also have an opportunity to discuss their ideas at Harpur Hill Residents' Association's next meeting on Tuesday 27 January at Harpur Hill Club on Burlow Road at 7.30 pm.

Andrew Bingham, Executive Councillor for Social and Community Development, said: "This is the next step in the Council's improvement plan for local play facilities and we want residents to get involved and put forward their ideas.

"It is vitally important that as many people as possible give us their views on how we can spend this money, so please make sure you complete your questionnaire when you receive it. If you have time, why not come along to the meeting on 27 January?"
