The Pavilion Gardens restaurant has been awarded the High Peak - Peak District - Restaurant of the Month accolade for December 2008.
The award, voted for by readers of 'Pubs 'R' Down To Us' magazine, is a great testament to the improvements made in the restaurant and kitchen over the last 3 months, and heralds the refurbishment of the restaurant area due to be completed in February.
The new provision will be called The Pavilion Café, Buxton.
The improvements to the Pavilion Gardens complex will continue into April. After the refurbishment of the main restaurant and Art Café areas, work will begin to upgrade the old cafeteria site and provide a newly fitted and expanded Tourist Information Centre that will sell a wide range of local products, together with a gallery showcasing local artists. A new coffee and ice cream bar will also open in the spring.
Tony Kemp, Executive Councillor for Regeneration, said: "We are delighted to be recognised by this award; especially because our customers voted for us.
"I think that our patrons will be impressed with The Pavilion Café when it opens in February and the new information centre, gallery and coffee bar. This is an exciting time for the Pavilion Gardens, and we are looking forward to seeing a thriving facility for residents and visitors this summer."
The improvements aim to create an improved welcome experience for visitors and have been supported by a grant of £197,000 from Derby and Derbyshire Economic Partnership.
