Fancy cycling up hills, down valleys and across finishing lines - without moving an inch?
Then head for Glossop Leisure Centre, which has just added a Saturday morning studio cycling class to its group exercise schedule.
Studio cycling is a high-energy, indoor fitness programme in which the instructor takes participants on a virtual road race.
It is one of the world's most popular group fitness classes and is easier than ordinary cycling because there is no bad weather - just music, the instructor and participants.
Said High Peak borough councillor Andrew Bingham, Executive Councillor for Social and Community Development: "The beauty of studio cycling is that it suits everyone, even those who can't ride a bike, because the resistance can be adjusted to the rider's own pace. I'm told that keen cyclists can burn up to 750 calories an hour".
Classes cost £3.90 or are free to gym members but must be booked in advance. The Saturday sessions start at 10am while the other popular classes run on Mondays at 6.00pm & on Wednesdays and Fridays from 9.30am to 10.15am, with a crèche.
