Activities galore will keep boredom at bay for holidaymaking schoolchildren this summer.
High Peak Borough Council has joined forces with a string of partners to organise an Active High Peak programme of events running each weekday from Monday 27 July to Friday 3 September.
Aspiring artists and sports starlets will be well catered for, alongside those who love the countryside.
Full details are available on the council website at www.highpeak.gov.uk. Just click the Leisure and Culture link on the home page.
Said Andrew Bingham, Executive Councillor for Social and Community Development: "Active High Peak really does offer something for everyone so there'll be lots to do to prevent young people getting bored this summer".
Although event times may vary a little, venues will follow a weekly pattern for the most part. For example, the places to be on a Monday will usually be Gamesley Community Centre; Fairfield Youth Centre, Buxton; Derby Road Playing Fields, New Mills; and Whaley Bridge Football Pitch.
Tuesday activities will take place generally in Chapel Lane Park, Hadfield; Hope Valley Play Area; Harpur Hill Junior School Playing Fields, Buxton; and Chapel-en-le-Frith Park.
The focus of attention on Wednesdays will be Fairfield Youth Centre and Chinley Football Pitch while Thursday's fun will take place as a rule in Gamesley Community Centre; Harpur Hill School Playing Fields; Chapel Lane, Hadfield; Furness Vale Multi Use Games Area; and Whitfield Recreation Ground, Glossop. Finally, the regular locations for Friday activities will be Hayfield Football Pitch and Fairfield Youth Centre.
