Big response to retail marketing workshop

Date: 26/06/2009

Few places remain for Buxton event

More than 30 local retailers have signed up to attend two free workshops for independent retailers in Buxton on Tuesday 7 July and Thursday 9 July.

And High Peak Borough Council has urged other businesses to snap up the few remaining spaces before it is too late.

The Buxton workshops repeat sessions already delivered in the Derbyshire Dales that were very well received with an independent survey of delegates stating that they felt "inspired", "enthused" and "motivated".

The programme from popular series "Retail Survival" and "The Shop Doctors" was devised by Main Marketing and PR Limited and is being presented by retail marketing specialist Diane Jackson. The programme explores different facets of retail marketing, including advertising and visual merchandising.

The more experienced retailers found it an excellent refresher.

Linda Froggatt, from Spirit of the Andes in Bakewell, said: "It was a very good course - some ideas were new, some a refresher, but all very useful, practical help. There was a great spirit among the delegates and it was great to have the opportunity to talk with them and bounce ideas off each other".

Said council leader Tony Ashton: "We first brought this programme to Derbyshire in 2005 and we are now really pleased to be working with Derbyshire County Council and Derby and Derbyshire Economic Partnership to bring this excellent private sector-led series back to the High Peak. I would strongly encourage any retailer who has not signed up already to book a place as soon as possible so that they can take advantage of this great opportunity".

The programme will be repeated in New Mills on Tuesday 6 October and Tuesday 13 October. Businesses from any town or village can attend all events.

To book your place on either course, contact Diane Jackson at Main Marketing on 0845 129 9948, e-mail her at shopdoctor@retailsurvival.co.uk or visit www.retailsurvival.co.uk/ . Places are not restricted to Buxton businesses.
